12 Reasons to work for QA

QA is a company with values

We live by our corporate values of Integrity, Commitment and Service. This gives all QA employees a common way of working, which in turn ensures that we always deliver a high quality service to our customers.

Lots of career - advancing opportunities

As a growing organisation (we have grown revenue by over 300% in the last decade), there are always new challenges and opportunities just around the corner, making QA an ideal place for ambitious and hard - working individuals with a will to succeed.

Proud to be the best

You will be part of a high quality organisation (Sunday Times Best Employers ‘One to Watch’; three time winners of Apprenticeship Programme of the Year 2012, 2013 and 2014; listed on the Sunday Times Profit Track top 100 companies in 2013 and 2014).

The power of learning

As a training company we are passionate about the power of learning so, beyond any development training, we grant a minimum of three extra training days a year for you to learn a subject of your choice from our core curriculum.

We get that downtime is important

We know that in order to work hard, you need time to rest and refuel – that’s why we offer a generous holiday allowance of 25 days per year, which increases by an additional day once you reach 3, 4, and 5 years’ service, reaching 28 days per year. Just before the start of the holiday year, you can apply to buy up to five days additional leave.

We offer insurance cover and security

We offer a life assurance benefit of four times basic salary and, after one year’s service with the company, you can join the Company’s Group Income Protection Scheme and the voluntary medical insurance scheme (the latter carries a cost). We also have a Company Pension Scheme for all employees, which includes a company contribution.

We assist you with your family costs

You can apply for childcare vouchers, which save you the cost of tax and national insurance.

We help you to be healthy employees (if you want to be)

With discounted gym membership rates, and The Cycle to Work Scheme which gives you the opportunity to buy a bicycle with tax discounts.

We know that travel can be expensive

So we offer interest - free season ticket loans up to the value of £4,999 to help with up - front public transport costs (following successful completion of your probation period).

We share success

On top of our competitive remuneration packages we have, in the last two years, paid over £300,000 annually in discretionary bonus packages to team members who are not in commission or bonus schemes.

A company that cares

All employees that have successfully completed their six month probationary period are eligible to request two days per year charity leave. As long as it is for a registered charity, employees can take advantage of two days leave at full pay. QA will also double any sponsorship money raised up to the value of £250.

We want you to tell others

We operate an employee referral scheme, so if you introduce a friend or colleague to the company, and they join and successfully pass probation, you will receive up to £1,000.

Social Events

Charity takes up a large part of our activity outside of day to day work, but we always ensure we have time to be sociable with our colleagues too. Whether its team lunches, days out, a few drinks after work or a trip abroad; we pride ourselves in ensuring our people have the opportunity to build lasting relationships which will help them thrive during their time with us.

Our history

In 1985, QA was founded by three former Intel employees: Mike Cheeseman, Jim Watt & Howard Kornstein. Shortly after, the company experienced it’s first breakthrough when it began to provide technical training to IBM’s European staff and by 1990, IBM became our biggest customer.

In 1994, Learning, the longest running division of the business, was formed.

In 1999, QA acquired Cranbrook Training and the training division of CapGemini, allowing us to begin teaching project management and business analysis as part of our QA Learning offering.

In 2006, one of the biggest changes to the business came with the skills and expertise gained from the acquisition of Interquad, and we subsequently further acquired competitor companies Xpertise Group and Remarc Group, strengthening our position as the UK’s leading business & IT training company.

In 2008, we launched our Apprenticeships division. We were the first IT apprenticeships business rated Ofsted Outstanding; offering IT, developer, digital marketing, project management and business apprenticeships throughout England and Scotland.

In 2011, we acquired Aikona Management, which brought advancement to our project management training and consultancy course areas. Within our Higher Education division, we launched our first University partnership with Ulster University, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in our London and Birmingham campuses.

In 2014 F1 Computing provided key CRM & IT training to QA. We launched our partnership with Northumbria University, our second University partner, delivering undergraduate top-ups and postgraduate programmes at a new London campus, and pathway programmes at Northumbria’s Newcastle campus.

In 2015 QA acquired the NETbuilder academy, now known as QA Consulting, providing consulting services to government & business sectors. We launched our partnership with Roehampton University; providing pathway programmes at Roehampton’s London campus, and a mix of undergraduate programmes taught in centres located in London (Holborn) and Birmingham.

In 2016 we welcomed our 10,000th Apprentice through QA’s Apprenticeship programme, and expanded our offering with the University of Roehampton with undergraduate programmes at our Manchester centre.

The quality of our proposition has never been stronger, with more learning experts, more dedicated facilities and further advancement in our solutions within Education.

Joining QA is not just about doing your day job. Throughout the year, we all get involved in charity fundraising and volunteering, going as far as dedicating two days annually to giving something back.

We hold a vote to decide upon our partner charity each year, to allow every one of our colleagues to have their say on who we should support. This year, we’ve partnered with Centrepoint and we’re off to a great start with our fundraising and events.

Every office is involved, and it’s great to take some time out to support and raise as much as we can to help the causes we care about.

Last year we partnered with the NSPCC and are proud to have raised over £52,500 for them. This year we have set our sights high, and we are hoping to go further still in 2018.

Meet Russell who has recently joined us from the Armed Forces

Approaching the civilian job market with confidence is hugely important for Service Leavers, Reservists, Veterans and military spouses as well as Cadets. By providing accredited training in cutting-edge technology skills and facilitating work placements within the thriving IT industry, QA are building on the skills Service Personnel and their families already have and supporting them in becoming even more competitive and attractive to potential employers. With today’s signing of the Covenant, QA are joining over 1,500 Armed Forces friendly organisations and helping create exciting career pathways for our Armed Forces community.
